About the Journal
Journal of Health Information and Librarianship (JoHIL) (ISSN: 2408-6614 | eISSN: 2672-4839) is a peer-reviewed, open-access international journal published by the Medical Library Association of Nigeria (MLA-NG).
The journal's target audience includes librarians, information scientists, specialists, managers and educators. JoHIL is one of the foremost health information science journals in Africa.
Aims and scope
The journal is one of Africa's foremost publications for health information and librarianship professionals. It publishes research papers on the most recent issues and developments in the health information sciences. All papers are subject to a double-blind reviewing process.
The Journal accepts empirical reports, theoretical papers, opinions, reviews and practice papers for publication. All submissions must be original manuscripts not submitted for publication in another journal.
All submitted manuscripts must be relevant to health information and medical librarianship audiences and may cover themes such as biomedical information access and retrieval, health information needs, health information behaviour, professional and public information literacy, health information systems, knowledge and evidence services for healthcare practice and medical education, health information management, medical librarianship and related concepts, Open Science, research data management and big data, bibliometric/scientometric studies, training for health information and library professionals, among other related themes.

Publication Frequency
Since 2023, JoHIL has been published in online version only. Manuscripts are published online as soon as they are accepted, and later compiled into an annual issue as scheduled. Authors who require print copies of their publication can send their request to editorialoffice@johil.org.
